The object of this study is the explanation of a coincidence. It could be expressed as the presence of humorous elements in postmodernist texts or as a certain postmodernist practice that seems to be inherent in humor. It points to the coincidence of many features that are not just marginally present in postmodernism and humor, but are essential to both of them. The reason is that postmodernist and humorous textual practices are built around the same premises and therefore share so many characteristics that it is quite difficult to distinguish them. However, such textual features are not the only overlap between postmodernism and humor. Like all cultural manifestations, these texts are also a social practice. Both postmodernism and humor share not only their popularity, their social criticism, and their way of conceiving the individual, but also a philosophy of life, if not a whole cosmology.
