You have before you a book about mountaineering in which things are told that are not usually talked about. There are no epic climbs, although there are plenty of climbs. Because after 16 years of expeditions to the Himalayas and Karakoram -many of them as part of Carlos Soria's team- it can be said that Sito Carcavilla has a lot to tell about life in a base camp. On expeditions there is a lot of downtime and people entertain themselves as best they can. Sito does it by writing what he sees, what happens and what he thinks. In these pages he becomes a chronicler of what he is experiencing in the first person, giving us a fun, reflective and critical account of what the back room of a base camp entails, all that which is not talked about and which is part of the expeditions.
