The Nibelung Ring is without a doubt one of the greatest works of modern music, and has fascinated both critics and music lovers for over a century. No recent work has studied Richard Wagner's masterpiece with the exhaustiveness and sharpness of the philosopher Richard Scruton, who examines not only the dramatic and musical aspects, but also the symbology and philosophy of the Ring cycle.
