El último gol apache
la loca gira americana del Rácing de Madrid
Ruiz Blas, José Manuel
A century ago, a modest team burst onto the Spanish football scene to challenge established clubs for hegemony. It was Racing de Madrid, which soon became the best team in the city. Urban expansion forced him to abandon his popular Chamberí stadium. To recover his prestige, which had diminished throughout the 1920s, he embarked on two ambitious projects: the construction of a lavish golf course in Vallecas and a bizarre tour of America in 1931 to pay for it. All this precipitated his ruin. His arrival in Peru sparked a military uprising. In Cuba they were surprised by a violent rebellion. In Mexico they stepped on the dungeons and signed a world star. In the underground jazz dens of the United States they came up against gangsters. Everywhere they provoked riots. Everywhere they fought with their bare fists.
