Extremoduro

Halfway between a journalistic story and an "oral biography", this work is the unofficial musical biography of the Plasencia band and its charismatic leader, Robe, whose motto clearly exposes his creative philosophy: "overwork does not replace to the lack of talent". Arranged chronologically, each chapter is dedicated to one of the albums recorded by Extremoduro between 1989 ("You at home, us at the stake") and 2013 ("For all audiences"), and, later, to the works Robe and Uoho with their respective bands to try to understand their abrupt end. Always built with the utmost respect and objectivity, based on the statements of the members and the comments of the specialized press, "Innate Talent" presents the trajectory of the legendary band in the musical context of three decades of national rock, giving voice to all its actors: the groups, the musicians, the currents, the record companies, the formats and, even, the politicians who went from absolute contempt to homage when Extremoduro demonstrated its potential to make itself heard among the youth. In this one-of-a-kind biography, illustrated with images of Domingo J. Casas and complete with a Spotify playlist and a selection of videos, Jesús Casañas, a music journalist by profession and guitarist by training, offers valuable comments on issues not normally treated in the musical biographies: the formal structure of the songs, the magic of the instrumental arrangements, the plot that unites the composition and the lyrics, the improvements in the sound from the recording and the production, the evolution from the first live performances from the time of chaos, the band's relationship with record companies and the media. All this with the intention of explaining why Extremoduro has become for many the soundtrack of our lives.
