Flora Tristán

Cassina, Cristina

Flora Tristán is considered one of the predecessors of contemporary feminism. Among the central issues of her work are the reflection on the conditions of the popular classes and the emancipation of women. To achieve these goals, during the last year of her life she traveled to France to try to spread her ideas in working-class circles. In this book, Cristina Cassina explores the life and experiences of an author who, in an innovative way, denounced aspects of the society of her time that no woman had dared to point out at the time. The volume also traces an exhaustive overview of the original political thought of an intellectual ahead of her time and considered one of the most influential proto-feminists.
