Historia naval de la Guerra Civil 1936-1939
Morales, Adolfo
Despite having been decided on land, what happened at sea during the Civil War had a major impact on its outcome. Much has been heard about the failure of the uprising in Barcelona or Madrid, about the Republican defeat on the northern front, at Jarama or the battle of the Ebro. But little is known about the way in which the Navy entered into a conflict that ended with enormous tensions among his staff, or what happened in the waters of the Bay of Biscay while the north fell, or that much of the material that was used in the Jarama had reached Spain through the sea. It is hardly remembered that Marine Infantry forces fought on the front lines of both sides, or that naval aviation flew over land fronts. It has almost been forgotten how the cruiser Baleares and the destroyer Almirante Ferrándiz sank taking hundreds of Spanish sailors with them, or the stories of the Republican submarines lost under the waters without anyone ever hearing from them again. Until now, the analysis of this conflict has not escaped ideological bias, an approach that has deprived us of a more rigorous and calm review. And the account of naval history between 1936 and 1939 has not been an exception. It was necessary to approach it objectively. And in these pages, without hiding anything, you can finally access an impartial, complete, technical and affordable study for all audiences.
