La generación perdida

La generación perdida

una encuesta sobre la juventud de 1929

Fuentes, Juan Francisco

Is it true that every generation is a lost generation? This is suggested by the author of this book, the historian and professor Juan Francisco Fuentes, when taking stock of the lives of those young people who in 1929 responded to a survey by the newspaper El Sol on Spanish youth. His testimonies about politics, love, culture or the role of women in society make up a vision of life brimming with optimism, expressed with surprising freedom in the midst of the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera. But the reconstruction of the subsequent trajectory of many of these young people shows a tragic fate, marked by the Civil War and its aftermath, which contrasts with their faith in the future a few years earlier.
