What future awaits Spanish as an international language? This work offers an answer to that question through careful management of statistical information and with a creative approach to exploring the economic dimensions of a language. As the second international language by the number of those who have it as a native domain and the fourth by the total number of those who speak it, Spanish provides not only a powerful sign of collective identity, but also one of the most valuable intangibles for the community of its speakers. Given the unstoppable development of global markets and communication technologies, it is time to explore the possible futures that await our language and identify the policies to make the most promising scenario a reality. The authors of this volume are dedicated to this endeavor, taking up, in an original and brilliant way, the line of research they launched, in their day, with the project "Economic value of Spanish".
