Forensic pathologist Lars Pohjanen has only weeks to live when he asks Rebecka Martinsson to investigate a murder that occurred no less than sixty years ago. The body of the father of a famous boxer who disappeared in 1962 without a trace is now discovered in the freezer of an alcoholic found dead. Rebecka agrees to get involved in the case, even though she hides a personal connection to it. Her investigations will lead him to the "Cranberry King", who was the kingpin of organized crime in the region for decades. An organized crime whose tentacles continue to slowly take over the city, with a Kiruna being demolished and moved a few kilometers away to make room for the mine that has been devouring the population from below and now exposing it to dubious interests.
