Barthes, Roland
During his life, Roland Barthes published little on Proust -five texts or articles- although he himself confesses that without a doubt he was the author he read the most, since adolescence but especially in his last years, during the mourning for his mother, of the which constantly echoed that of Proust's mother. This volume brings together the texts of Barthes published during his lifetime, the transcription of three broadcasts he made in France Culture, some unpublished works, some fragments of a course he took at the Collège de France, and an important selection of his well-known personal archives. Barthes breaks new ground, cuts corners, adopts, discards and offers a perfectly modern vision of an extraordinarily modern author. It basically fills a void: Barthes's "Proust" was missing and here it is, sparkling, vibrant, seminal.
