Pescar el salmón
bulos, narrativas y poder en la prensa económica
Álvarez Barba, Yago
The dominant economic thought, liberal capitalism and its aspects, is understood as an exact science free of ideology and politics. Economic language has been used to create a barrier between those who master it and the rest of the population. The idea that the economy is neutral has been introduced into the social imagination and, therefore, the dominant economic press that transmits it has also been understood as a neutral press. Nowadays it is quite clear that all the economic press has the same liberal bent, but the economic postulates they defend continue to be seen and interpreted as if they were physical laws. Said press, and that aura of physical law that surrounds it, is controlled by the great economic powers and they use it as a tool of the dominant power to generate opinion, consensus and thinking aligned with the interests of those same powers. Fishing for Salmon aims to break down those language barriers and dismantle the narratives created and the strategies for manipulating public opinion with the intention that citizens can confront the economic press.
