Picasso: imán de los escritores en español

Picasso: imán de los escritores en español

Esteban, José

Picasso had a magnet for writers. No Spanish or Latin American author gave up approaching the painter from Malaga. On the 50th anniversary of his death, José Esteban has prepared an extensive anthology with texts dedicated to the author of Guernica by Hispanic writers who knew or admired him, from Ricardo and Pío Baroja to Antonio Gamoneda. The list is long, and includes names like Ramón Gómez de la Serna, perhaps the most Picassian of Spanish writers, José Bergamín, Jorge Guillén, Rafael Alberti, Vicente Aleixandre, Alejo Carpentier, César Vallejo, Juan Perucho, Max Aub, Pablo Neruda, Luis Buñuel, Camilo José Cela... Picasso's attraction to literature led him to illustrate several art books by prominent creators of his generation.
