Giraud, Brigitte
On Tuesday June 22, 1999, Claude, Brigitte Giraud's partner, suffered a traffic accident, as a result of which he died in hospital that same night. More than twenty years later, the author, impelled to sell the house she bought with Claude shortly before the accident, decides to "take stock for the last time" that allows her to "close the investigation", for which she reconstructs all the facts, circumstances and decisions that led to his partner colliding with the motorcycle he was driving against a car. If the author's grandfather hadn't committed suicide, or if Stephen King had died in an accident he suffered in 1999, or if the song Claude heard before leaving work to pick up his son from school had been shorter (to cite only three of the facts that Brigitte Giraud reconstructs), Claude, who was driving a very powerful motorcycle that was not his, but the author's brother, would not have crashed, at four twenty-five in the afternoon of the 22nd June 1999, against the 2CV driven by Denis R.
