Annelida polychaeta III

Annelida Polychaeta III constituye una nueva puesta al día de los conocimientos sobre Anélidos Poliquetos en las costas de la península Ibérica e islas Baleares. El presente volumen incluye un estudio detallado de las familias Lacydoniidae, Sphaerodoridae, Amphinomidae, Euphrosinidae, Spintheridae, Orbiniidae, Paraonidae, Cossuridae, Opheliidae y Nerillidae consistente en una revisión taxonómica y bibliográfica en profundidad de cada una de ellas que se concreta en la elaboración de una Introducción general a la familia, en la que se sintetizan los aspectos más relevantes de su anatomía, taxonomía y sistemática, así como la construcción de claves para la identificación de géneros y especies.

This is the third volume of Fauna Iberica - Annelida Polychaeta, a series that updates the taxonomic information on the Polychaeta of the coasts of the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands. This volume studies 102 species belonging to ten families, five of them within the clade Aciculata (Lacydoniidae, Sphaerodoridae, Amphinomidae and Euphrosinidae), four in the clade Scolecida (Opheliidae, Orbiniidae, Paraonidae and Cossuridae), and one belonging to the former Archiannelida group, currently the subject of a controversial systematic arrangement in the polychaetes (Nerillidae). The general introduction to each family deals with its history and offers taxonomic keys to the identification of all the genera and species known in the Ibero-Balearic area. This is followed by a description of each species, with photographs taken by scanning electron microscope, and information on their biology, geographic distribution, and taxonomy.
