Socioeconomic Transformation in the Sasanian Empire

Recent studies have demonstrated the diverse character of the socioeconomic dynamics behind the socio-political transformations and infrastructural developments in different territories of the Sasanian and Roman Empires. Notwithstanding its distinct environmental and socio-cultural settings, the cultural landscapes in the Sasanian realm are much less studied than those of the neighbouring empire to the west. Based on an inter-disciplinary approach, this monograph bridges this gap and highlights such diversity on a regional scale in the Central Zagros.

Estudios recientes han demostrado el carácter diverso de la dinámica socioeconómica que subyace a las transformaciones sociopolíticas y al desarrollo de infraestructuras en distintos territorios de los imperios sasánida y romano. A pesar de sus distintos entornos medioambientales y socioculturales, los paisajes culturales del reino sasánida están mucho menos estudiados que los del imperio vecino situado al oeste. Basándose en un enfoque interdisciplinar, esta monografía salva esta laguna y pone de relieve dicha diversidad a escala regional en los Zagros Centrales.
